Composite doors are designed to offer strength, security and long-term performance – but how
well do they hold up to everyday scuffs and scratches? Whether you’re a homeowner with a
dog, a busy household, or just want to keep your door looking its best, it’s worth understanding
how scratch-resistant composite doors really are.
This guide covers why scratches happen, how to fix them, and what you can do to protect your
door from damage over time.
In general, yes – composite doors are much more resistant to scratches than timber or uPVC
alternatives. Their outer skin, which ours are made from CoolSkin, is engineered to handle
regular use, exposure to the elements, and minor contact without showing wear. The CoolSkin
technology provides further scratch resistance because it is not painted or gel coated, giving
you peace of mind.
That said, no door surface is completely scratch-proof. With enough force or repeated contact,
even a high-quality composite door can show signs of surface damage. The good news is that
most scratches are only cosmetic and can be repaired with minimal effort.
Our doors come with an optional luxury upgrade to SleekSkin, which adds a silky finish that
perfectly replicates a timber door but with extra durability. SleekSkin ensures your door is more
scratchproof than a regular composite door.
Over time, wind-driven debris, sand or grit can create faint marks, especially on doors in
exposed or coastal locations.
Scratches can happen from keys, bike handlebars, garden tools or deliveries brushing against
the door.
Using abrasive cleaners or scouring pads can dull the surface. Skipping regular cleaning can
also let dirt build up and lead to marks when wiped.
Dogs scratching at the bottom of the door is a common issue. While composite doors are
tougher than most, frequent scratching in one spot may wear down the protective layer.

I love my new comp door, it’s a golden oak wood with frame. It looks really stylish and I like the 3 little glass panels going down the door.
The door and frame are really sturdy unlike my old frame which moved if you lent on it. The door has a double lock so I feel extremely secure when in upstairs and also when in out of the house. I would recommend these doors to anyone they are a good safety investment.
